Tuesday Review: Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt

Let me start this review honestly. I do not like yogurt. I will not eat it in the house. I will not eat it with a mouse. I will not eat it here or there... you get the idea. The strange thing is, I very much want to like yogurt. I figure, if I liked yogurt, it would be very easy to snack on a nice low-fat yogurt instead of a doughnut, or a candy bar, or cookies. Mmmmm.... cookies....
... wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah... yogurt. Yogurt would be the perfect substitute for the junk food that my sweet tooth craves. But... I don't like yogurt.

Wanting to find a yogurt that I might actually like, I asked around. I kept getting the same answer- try Greek yogurt. Okay. Okay. I will try it, you will see.
If I am going to try it, it may as well be a flavor with one of my favorite fruits- BLUEBERRIES! Yum! I bought the blueberry Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt with the fruit on the bottom. I opened it up and looked at it... um... maybe fruit on the bottom wasn't such a good choice for me. I gave it a good stir. A really good stir. Then I tasted it...

You know what? I still don't like yogurt. But I have to admit, it was much more tolerable than other yogurts I've tasted. I liked the blueberries. I liked that it was very creamy. I just don't like yogurt. I ended up eating half of it, then giving the rest to my 11 month old. She loved it! My other yogurt loving kids ate the other containers of the yogurt that I bought. They liked it, too.

It would be unfair to give something a lower rating based on personal taste, and if I had to eat a yogurt, I would eat Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt. Besides, my kids liked it.

Overall Rating: ¢¢¢¢¢

I saw your post on a forum about getting more followers so I clicked over to follow. It's hard getting a blog up and running. Just because you have such and such amount of followers doesn't necessarily mean that much except if you want to make money. I like your blog. The tutu purse is adorable. I want to host giveaways and do reviews but no luck yet, Hang in there!

I'm commenting because I looove yogurt and was wondering what other brands you've tried. My favorites are Stoneyfield, Greek Gods, and Wallaby Organic. Have you tried any of those? Just curious...

Hi Jessica. No. I have to admit, I haven't tried those. I will be on the lookout for them, though. Thank you. I have tried various store brands... yuck. lol. And I've tried a few others that I have been somewhat okay with (I have actually craved yogurt in the early months of each of my pregnancies. lol).I would eat Yoplait, Dannon, and I even kind of liked the Yo Crunch. :-)

I don't like to eat Greek yogurt on its own but I like to use the plain in place of sour cream. I think Stoneyfield is an excellent product. Hey, I wonder if you can make a "butter" spread from yogurt. Hmmmmm.

Dee, that's a great idea! I should try it then next time I make a cake that cals for sour cream. And the butter spreads... I'm thinking maybe garlic & herb... I wonder how it would be for a garlic bread. Ooh! Or what about a pizza!!! You know, the white sauce kind. I'll bet that would work, too! :-)
